Heat is the silent killer of electronics. Langir snap-action thermostats cut power at preset temperature limits, protecting circuits before overheating becomes failure.
Overcurrent protection cannot see a blocked fan or a heat-soaked enclosure — only thermal protection can. The Langir Snap Action Thermostat uses a bimetallic disc that snaps decisively at its calibrated temperature, disconnecting power without chatter or drift, then automatically restoring it once conditions normalize. This crisp mechanical action needs no external power or control logic, making it the simplest reliable guard for motors, transformers, heaters, battery packs, and enclosed electronics. One small component stands between normal warmth and the temperature that ends your product's life.
How snap-action thermostats work and where to apply them.
A bimetallic disc deforms with temperature and snaps over-center at the calibrated point, opening the contacts instantly — no gradual arcing, no electronics, no external supply.
Automatic-reset versions restore the circuit when temperature falls to the reset point; this suits equipment that should resume operation after cooling.
Motors, transformers, power supplies, heating appliances, battery systems, and sealed enclosures where fan failure or vent blockage can silently raise temperatures.
A breaker trips on current, a thermostat on temperature. Overheating often occurs at completely normal current levels, so the two protections cover different failure paths.
Choose a trip point above peak normal operating temperature but safely below component damage thresholds; Langir offers multiple calibrations and can advise on placement.
